The 2009 BMW 5 Series Sport Wagon boasts of racecar like attitude. It is the only wagon in the 5 Series cars, and is powered by a 300-hp turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, and BMW's xDrive, intelligent all-wheel-drive system. It has the caliber to go and perform as you direct it. The technology allows for a variable steering ratio based on your speed. It features BMW's innovative Active Steering, which allows for a variable steering ratio based on the speed. The standard all-wheel drive system offers maximum available traction and superior handling on all surfaces.

 

Engine and Performance

 

The 2009 BMW 535i xDrive Sports Wagon is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine good for 300-hp and 300 lb ft of torque. The 535xi model comes with Sport Automatic transmission, which adds paddle shift bars on the steering wheel. The wagon achieves 24 miles per gallon on highways.

 

Build and Styling

 

The BMW 535xi Sport Wagon’s exteriors were updated with subtle details last year. The 2009 model retains those facelifts with no significant changes. The polished metal profile of the 5-Series wagon displays more conventional styling, muted rear end and wrap around taillights. The interiors of the 4-door, five passenger Wagon is luxurious, comfortable and filled with high-tech features. The dash features BMW's double wave theme in dark tones over the instrument cluster. The multifunctional iDrive interface integrates entertainment, climate control and navigation systems. The cabin is roomy, and the rear seats allow for more shoulder-room and legroom. Increased cabin space puts the car on par with key competitors. Interior fit and finish is exemplary with door panels feature a two-tone finish with leather inserts.

 

The 2009 BMW 535i xDrive Sports Wagon offers a host of interior features such as an AM/FM stereo/CD audio system with ten speakers and MP3 capabilities, memory for the driver's seat, side view mirrors, and steering wheel position, ten-way power front seats, power-tilt-telescopic steering wheel, automatic climate control and keyless entry with multi-function remote controller.

 

Optional features include a sport suspension teamed with run-flat tires, BMW's Active Roll Stabilization and BMW's Active Steering. Other options include: the Cold Weather Package with heated front seats, heated steering wheel and heated, high-pressure headlight washers; the Sport Package, with BMWs Active Steering and Active Body Control systems, larger wheels with performance tires, more potent brakes and sport seats; and Logic7 audio with six-CD changer.

 

Safety Features

 

The 2009 BMW 5 Series Sport Wagon comes with a host of safety and security features.
